In 2017 I wrote my first βState of the Unionβ where I discussed ink brands, what they had done, and what I wanted them to do in 2018. In 2018 I did the same for 2019. This yearβs has been delayed, unfortunately! I really want to get these out before the new year, but sometimes other things conspire against good timing! 2017 was 3,500 words, 2018 was 6,100 words and this year is 8,600 words! I made a PDF in case people find that easier to read!

Ink Review: Sailor Ink Studio 935
Last year when I traveled to Japan I generally wanted to avoid buying stuff I knew I could easily get outside Japan. This included Sailor Ink Studio which I had heard was eventually going to be available to retailers outside Japan. Nevertheless I still wanted to try them out so and I grabbed Ink Studio 935 and 941 as they caught my eye the most (it was still a difficult decision!). I love purples and this reminded me of Dark Lilac (one of my favourite every inks) so I think it was a good choice. If you are interested in how Ink Studio sits within the rest of the 100 total inks check out this extensive overview of all inks!
Read MoreInk Review: Robert Oster Orange Rumble
Orange Rumble is a relatively new addition to the Robert Oster lineup. It looked nice when I first saw photos of the ink from Rob, but upon seeing it in person I was very impressed! Rob describes the ink as a 1970's inspired ink. I can see where this is coming from; browns, burnt oranges, yellow-greens are certainly some popular 70s colours schemes!
Read MoreInk Review: Monteverde Amethyst
Early 2017 Monteverde began what has become a huge expansion to their originally somewhat minimal ink collection with a Gemstone set comprising of ten inks. They've subsequently added a Noir set and an Emotions set. Some pretty inks in the collection from what I've seen. The inks come in 30ml and 90ml bottles. Coincidentally, the stone is also my birthstone. Whatever that means!
Read MoreInk Review: Krishna Sakthy
Krishna inks were previously overly expensive to ship from India but are now much cheaper. If ordering from The Pen World in India then a large order is still recommended to get the most out of shipping but after having made a second order just recently the total price of the order has now dropped to what shipping was alone in the first order so there has been a huge improvement. In good news though Krishna inks are now available, in addition to iZods in the UK, at Pen Chalet and Vanness in the US so it should be a lot easier to try out a bottle without committing to several now. Krishna Sakthy is from the RC series of inks which is are all designed to be sheeny (or "sheentastic") and are made in limited batches.
