My Pen Collection 2021

In early January I wrote about my ink collection and I mentioned that I’d be writing an update on my pens as well. It’s taken a while because there has been a lot of photos taken for this! This is a long, so I’d understand if you skim the stats and my thoughts on the pens and just look at the pretty pens (I think they’re pretty anyway)! This article is also more of a pet project, and more of a journaling and record keeping article. I’m hoping some people can get something out of it though.

In early 2019 I wrote about my pen collection then and in mid 2017 I first wrote about my pens.

A year and a half ago I wrote about my then collection of 637 Bottles and 33.47 Litres of Ink and now, after cracking 1,000 thanks to my recent purchase of all 100 Sailor Ink Studio inks (from Pen Classics) I thought was a good time to give an update to the collection.

Ink Review: Ink Institute Cut Jade

There are a few super sheeners out there now. The first was Organics Studio Nitrogen Royal Blue and Organics Studio have come out with a teal and a darker blue super sheener, Krishna has come out with a blue super sheener similar to Nitrogen and now Ink Institute in Taiwan has come out with two more. One is again similar to Nitrogen; rich moderately bright blue ink that's practically all sheen. But excitingly they also came out with a green ink that's a super sheener. All the rest have been either blue or a blue-green (such as Walden Pond Blue) and this is a lovely rich true green.

Ink Comparison: 32 Black Inks

This black comparison has been in the works for a while and with resent additions to my Noodler's collection I thought it was ready to go. Blacks aren't terribly exciting inks but they are practical inks and people usually approach them for a specific reason and usually there are things that people are looking to not be present. In this comparison I've got 32 black inks. I originally intended to make this a comparison of Noodler's Blacks, then I decided to add some notable comparisons and finally I just put all my blacks together so it should be fairly comprehensive.

One of my first pens was two Parker 51 pens that I inherited from my parents. I’ve always loved the form factor of the hooded nibs (and semi-hooded nibs) so when I read of the announcement of the 2017 Aurora Duo Cart re-release just 63 short years since the pen was first released in 1954, I became very interested in the pen. When Pen Chalet gave me the opportunity to review this pen I was eager to try it.
